Durban Dental Centre
Durban started life as a house and was converted into a dental practice in 1966 and
housed 3 surgeries. In 1992 it was totally refurbished and extended by Mr Wood and
today it boasts 7 surgeries, 3 of which are dedicated to our hygienists.
Environmentally Friendly
The practice has ensured measures to be environmentally
friendly. All surgeries have
digital x-ray equipment which benefits patients considerably by reducing exposure
to
radiation, this benefits the environment because chemicals (which are poisonous)
normally used to develop the x-rays are no longer needed.
The OPG machine is housed in it’s own room which
is surrounded by lead lined plaster
and a leaded glass window.
The practice was one of the first in the country, to fit
amalgam traps well before the EU
requirement. Amalgam slurry containing mercury used to be dumped into drains
every
week, now it is collected in traps and disposed of safely.
The team has a holistic approach to dentistry, by considering
the teeth as only part of
the whole body. Referral to supplementary specialists will often enhance the
health of
the mouth, jaws head and neck.
Today the centre plays host to 4 dentists, 4 hygienists,
5 nurses and 3 receptionists
and our aim is to provide a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.
We have a downstairs surgery with wheelchair access and
disabled facilities, a large
waiting room that overlooks our pretty garden and ample parking spaces for
patients.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

The waiting room looks out onto our pretty garden, where
you can watch the changing
seasons, birds, squirrels and the occasional fox.
