Ben's experience at our practice

Ben had not been to the dentist for some time and had put off the event given everything seemed fine with his teeth. After 3 years of neglect, Ben decided he must visit the dentist and decided to book his first Dental health assessment with us at Durban Dental Centre.

What we did

Ben had a Full Dental health assessment for 30 minutes where the dentist charted each tooth on our state of the art software system and used X-Rays to understand the condition of Ben's oral health. A full smile check was also conducted to ensure we understand what Ben wanted to achieve in the short and long term as well as how we can help keep his teeth healthy for life.

Outcome

Ben had a full review and needed no treatment! He no longer felt nervous about future appointments because of his positive experience and immediately booked another Dental health assessment for 6 months, as advised by his dentist.

"I hadn't gone for a check-up in more than 3 years. I kept saying I needed to, but why go if there's nothing wrong? I had no sensitivity or spotting but I thought I should 'go!', so I did! I came in to have a Dental Health check along with a scale and polish with the Hygienist. I enjoyed the experience! Not many people would say that about the dentist, especially me! My dentist at Durban Dental Centre was excellent, he was very pleasant and after my check I was informed no treatment was needed. Everyone at Durban Dental Centre made me feel at ease. Once home I immediately recommended Durban Dental Centre to my friend who also hasn't been to the dentist for ages!"

Reception staff polite and friendly. Ashley Sim (dentist) was thorough, thoughtful, considerate. He gave me confidence in that if he thought I didn't need a treatment, or would not benefit from it, he said so. Therefore, I am confident if he says I need treatment, then I do.

I had reported pain in a molar to my dentist at the last visit and he said the old filling had to be removed as no longer viable. This apt he removed the amalgam filling, cleaned the area removing a small amount of decay and refilled. He took an enormous amount of care to get the bite right. Amazingly, the whole procedure didn't hurt one bit. Will not go anywhere else.

Ashley Sim listened to my concerns and understood the circumstances giving rise to the appointment. Ashley checked the area in question and offered to take an x-ray should it put my mind at rest.We discussed the preferred way forward, given other medical considerations, with the option being available to undertake any interim treatment should the need arise.I never doubt that Ashley will listen and explain.
